First Rotary Sydney Cove Meeting

I attended my first meeting of the Rotary of Sydney Cove (my sponsoring club) and was, in a word, impressed. Let’s begin with my view:

That’s correct. Rotary of Sydney Cove meets on a boat that is conveniently docked between the Sydney Opera House on one side and the Sydney Harbor Bridget on the other. I was immediately welcomed and then spent the remainder of breakfast laughing through their warm and gentle jokes to/on one another. They have truly embraced the Rotary spirit of extending international goodwill.

Our speaker presented her new book on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in celebration of its 200th anniversary. She was an engaging speaker who, based on her assertion that men who read the book and embraced its lessons would have happy women in their lives, had pretty much convinced everyone in attendance to either read or re-read Pride and Prejudice.

I am very much looking forward to getting involved with the club through continued professional meetings and in its service.
